Water Dreamscapes

By moving the camera while I take a photograph, I am able to create these soft painterly images that are more about feeling and mood than documentation.

The memories we keep
I have a 40-year love affair with Heron Lake. I knew her in her prime: when snowfall was plentiful, resulting in a lake brimful with clear, crisp water, while sailboats elegantly whisp along, and fishermen caught their limits. A long-term drought, along with the reservoir water now going to thirsty towns, has resulted in a shrinking lake, large sandy beaches, or long slogs through the mud. And yet, I still love her. She is still beautiful. She is still a magical place filled with memories, dreams, and the promise of more.
